Introduction to Being Your Own Advocate

Did you know that when you become 18 years old, you can legally make decisions about your health care? You can even sign for medical treatment, such as surgery or medical tests. So it’s really important that you know all about your health and can make informed decisions. To know what you want and know how to ask for it!

This section addresses things like how to get help for emotional problems, health problems, what to do if you have a disability, and how to talk with your doctor. We hope this will help you become a great self–advocate when it comes to your health!
